From development, through financing, to commissioning: help us realize our first green gas plant.

About us
We are MethaPlanet, a young climatetech company from The Hague. We develop decentralized digestion facilities that convert agricultural and new organic residual streams into green gas. We are currently working on our first industrial-scale plant near The Hague, and new locations are already in the pipeline.

In recent months, we have laid a solid foundation. We have secured the location for our first plant and are working with our partners toward the contractual and financial close of the project. Construction will follow, while we simultaneously develop new locations further.

For the next phase, we are looking for an Investment and/or Project Finance Manager (medior/senior): an entrepreneurial person who wants to bring a plant from development, through financing, to successful commissioning.

Your role
You will join a small team and work directly with management, your colleagues and many external parties. You will therefore take on significant responsibility and be the point of contact for a number of topics, both inside and outside the organization. One week you negotiate with a potential financier or contract party. The next week, you map out where the project stands, or find an external party for, for example, the technical due diligence.

As a small team, we build a lot together, so you will work three to four days a week at our office in The Hague. That is the fastest way to learn, and it is how we grow together as an organization.

What you will be doing
Below is the playing field. We are looking for someone who has already performed some of these tasks, or is keen to take them on together with colleagues. Does part of this match your experience or ambition? Then we would love to meet you.

1. Project financing. We raise senior and subordinated financing from banks, together with advisors. This includes the business case and the financial models, the information memorandum, the data room and guiding the due diligence.

2. Equity financing. We raise equity at project level and organize capital rounds at holding level (TopCo).

3. Drafting, negotiating and entering into contracts. Together with lawyers and advisors, we draft our project contracts, negotiate them and close them: feedstock, off-take and EPC contracts, and more.

4. Other project work. Arranging insurance, helping with subsidy applications and preparing presentations.

5. Project monitoring and investor reporting. You keep the financial model and business case in line with how the project develops, translate budget and progress into clear updates, and own the periodic reporting to equity parties and financiers. Detailed cost control and accounting are the responsibility of our controller.

6. Business development. We connect with new stakeholders and partners, build out the pipeline of new projects and develop them further, from initial feasibility to investment decision.

What you bring
You are a true manager with an entrepreneurial mindset, energized by building and getting things done.

• 6 to 12 years of work experience, for example as investment manager, in project financing or in business development with a strong financial foundation.

• Entrepreneurial. We strongly prefer someone with experience at a startup or scale-up, or who can demonstrate entrepreneurship in another way.

• Flexible and pragmatic. We are a small team where everyone rolls up their sleeves. You take things on, even when they are new to you.

• Relevant background. For example at an equity fund, impact fund or energy transition project developer, or at a climatetech startup or scale-up. Experience in the energy transition, circular economy, digestion or (green) gas infrastructure is a plus.

• Financially and legally versed. You are well-versed in financing structures and have an affinity with the associated contracts.

• Communicative. You are a pleasant and credible conversation partner for banks, investors, advisors and governments.

• Languages. You speak and write fluent Dutch and English.

What we offer

• A key role in building our first green gas plant and the projects that follow.

• Significant responsibility and visibility: you work directly with the entire team, management and external financiers.

• A gross monthly salary of €5,450 to €7,950 based on 40 hours, depending on your experience. In addition, 25 vacation days and a mobility allowance.

• A small, driven team with short lines of communication and an office in The Hague, where you work three to four days a week.

Why green gas?
The Netherlands must move away from natural gas, but not everything can be electrified. Green gas fits into the existing gas grid and replaces natural gas one to one. That makes it an important part of the solution in the energy transition. Moreover, green gas can relieve pressure on the electricity grid and thus help reduce grid congestion. And the energy transition is not won with plans, but with projects that get built.
